Biopesticides: Moving Towards a Chemical Free Fertilization

1)  BIOPESTICIDES

Chemical pesticides have been utilized for a long time to protect the plants and crops from damage caused by pests, for a healthy agricultural experience. Biopesticides are the organic pesticides made from natural organic substances that help in eradicating weeds, crop-eating insects, and rodents.
The biopesticides are derived from various forms of biodegradable substances, like cow dung, plant remnants. The three variants of biopesticides include microbial pesticides, plant-incorporated protectants, and bio-chemical pesticides.

Bio- pesticides occur in natural settings, which originate from plants, animals, microorganisms, or minerals. They are non-toxic elements, which are environmentally friendly and are prime actors in a sustainable family.
Mainly, key players are canola oil and baking soda, which are easy to get and use as biopesticides for your farming practices.

Food security is prominent among all the factors to meet the needs of the ever-growing population, even for the necessity of the global market, while upholding the credentials of sustainable farming and enhancing soil fertility. The need for biochemicals is even higher than before.

The three variants of bio-pesticides

Microbial pesticides: they are microorganisms that protect from worms, moths, or pests that affect the crop, mainly Bacillus Thuringiensis, which produces a protein that is harmful to the insects and various pests.

Plant-incorporated protectants: they are as toxic to pests as they are produced from the plants in genetically modified plants.

Biochemical Pesticides: The biochemical pesticides are herbal, which occur naturally and are often seen as pest-repelling components. Examples include Eucalyptus oil, Lemongrass oil, and Rosemary oil. The problem lies with biochemicals. They have been successful, the problem lies in the verification of their toxicity.

2) BIOLOGICAL INSECTISIDES

Biological insecticides are natural conditioning agents, like fungi, viruses, plant extracts, and other insects, that help farmers in controlling pests and insects.

The bio-insecticides work within the periphery of the ecological system, they help in repelling the insects, pests, fungi with disturbing unlike the damaging synthetic components of chemical insecticides.
They are environmentally friendly and maintain a healthy balance with the concept of sustainable development. A few examples of bio-insecticides are Bio-Resist, Azactin.

3) PESTICIDES & BIOPESTISIDES

PESTICIDES: They are the chemicals, mostly used by farmers in large agricultural fields and by individuals in plantations as well to get rid of insecticides, pests, rodents, fungi and weeds which effects the growth of the crops, woods other parts of the vegetation which may be hazardous and cause danger to the food chain. The pesticides may create havoc for the microscopic living beings that may cause a great threat to negative environment.

BIOPESTICIDES: Over the past few decades, the issues related to pesticides and their harmful effects have been raised, and many measures have been taken on this account.

The idea existed to save the other life forms attached to the crops, which are beneficiary for the environment, the conventional pesticides have been substituted by non-conventional/ modern technique bio-pesticides. They are derived from natural materials like animals and plants. They destroy the pest or any harmful agents through the naturally occurring biological process rather than chemical poisoning, and have a minimum effect on the environment, They are directly derived from nature. 

4) WHAT ARE BIOLOGICAL PESTICIDES?

Biological pesticides are living organism or substances that maintains ecological balance by making the food cycle they damaging the weed plants, and the most prominent preventive mechanism in controlling crop destruction by outside and inside stimuli. They are components of integrated pest management, these are naturally occurring pesticides such as animals, pests, and minerals.
Farmers incorporate them to get a refreshed, high variety of crops, which won’t perish or deteriorate due to insects or other pests.

5) NATURAL BIOPESTICIDES:

Natural pesticides are formulated by organisms, mainly for their defense and protection against outside attack of pests, insects, outside factors, bacteria, or other agents, for example: carboxin, fluoroacetate.

Botanical pesticides are highly biodegradable, the toxicity rate in humans and animals is very low, and they are generally eco-friendly.

6) PLANT-BASED PESTICIDES:

The plant-based pesticides, also known by the name of botanical pesticides, are derived from dried, ground plant extracts. They are natural remedies for synthetic pesticide utilization and are organic and environmentally friendly.

To address food shortages, crop efficiency, and to reduce the crisis in a more economically sustainable manner, taking consumers’ health into account, the plant-based product is more economically friendly, biodegradable causes less damage to the environment and human health.

Our economic dynamis is always changing with shift in agricultural process. And biological insecurities and pesticides holds a greater value and plays a significant role in our economic structure.

The demand and utility of bio-pesticides and insecticides vary from certain ecological conditions, large-scale production, vast agricultural fields, extreme climate, and the impact of bioinsecticides on agricultural land, which needs continuous monitoring and controlled conditions.

The plant-driven pesticides and insecticides have demonstrated their effectiveness in protecting and managing farm lands from insects, weeds, and pests as they are available easily at cheap rates and help in maintaining food stability in a sustainable manner.
